We are offering an ownership share in Smugglers Haven as she continues to race, and Southfield Lily who is already in foal.
Sunday 24th May saw the return to the track of Smugglers Haven, who has had an extended winter break to be certain that she was over any ill effects of her nasty and uncharacteristic fall at Taunton in the Autumn of 2025. She is practically perfect in every way, and repaid us for our patience with an impressive victory in a small, but competitive race at Fontwell.
Saturday 30th May was a day of great happiness as Mr Vango passed through the important 6 week stage of his recovery from his broken neck sustained in The Grand National.
I am writing with news of Mr Vango, and with a large ‘thank you’ for all the nice messages of support that I have had from genuine racing fans. Our Preparation For The Grand National Mr Vango has had an in and out season with the weather and its frustrating effect on the racing (or […]
It was desperately disappointing not to be able to run Mr Vango in the Welsh National, but I am confident that it was totally the right decision as my reading of the ground proved correct with the race being won by a good ground horse in a fast time, with other mudlarks like Mr Vango running well below par.
‘CARING IS WINNING’ is a strap line that has been suggested to me as it encapsulates our approach, perfectly. Finding horses that can win valuable chases is renowned to be difficult and usually involves a bit of skill, a bit more luck and a lot of money. So we consider ourselves very fortunate to have been at Horseheath on a very wet cold day in the spring of 2023 to spot the long distance […]
2024 was not an easy year, but both Smugglers Haven and Mr Vango have kept us all cheered with two good wins for Smugglers Haven and a brave feat of mental strength and stamina by Mr Vango in the valuable London National at Sandown at Christmas. Both have been a great pleasure to care for […]
It’s been a tough year and we are all still grieving the loss of Mark in the Spring, but focusing on the horses has been a great panacea. They have been rewarding us for the attention they have received with some magnificent performances! Last weekend (16th – 18th November) there were victories for both parts […]
My First Winner as a Fully-Fledged Trainer It seems like many hundreds of years ago that I rode my first winner at Hereford on a funny, old, bad tempered friend of mine called Assured. On 14th October 2024, Hereford was the scene of another heartwarming first, when we sent out our first winner since I […]
