If you’d like to know more about how to become a racehorse owner as well as the support and expertise we can offer please get in touch. Owning a racehorse is not as expensive as you might think and it is a lovely way to extend your enjoyment of going to the races. Family, friends and colleagues can join in too and we can help you buy the right horse for you and your budget, or you could join the Mark Bradstock Racing Club. Just contact us and we will arrange for you to come to the yard and discuss what type of ownership will suit you.
The first step is to get in touch; we can then talk about what you would like to do so we can make plans to head to the most suitable sales to find the right horse depending on your criteria and budget. We will then train and develop your racehorse, give them a happy home life at the yard and make sure they can perform to the best of their ability on the racecourse. We’ll be with you for every race and look forward with you to every success!
We can buy horses at the sales or privately here in England, Ireland or France and strive to get the very best value for the money you have to spend.
If you want a horse with form, who will run quicker, to buy the best you will need a lot of money – the big guys are regularly spending £250,000 on young horses who have shown promise. The other alternative is to buy an unbroken three or four year old who has not yet been ridden, with a good pedigree and conformation. Nobody has ever told us to go and spend ridiculous sums so we are always on the look-out for horses that we can improve or unbroken ones that we have spotted the potential in. Alternatively, if you have a horse you think would improve with a different approach we would be happy to discuss how we might help. We have been very successful in the past so please do come and talk to us.
Joining our Racing Club is easy; just complete the form on the Racing Club page or phone us on 01235 760780 to find out more!
Where do we start? Jump horses are special. They have to be fast yes, but they also have to be clever and have received the best jump training so they are confident over fences and enjoy themselves every time they race. The people involved in jump racing are fantastic and as an owner, you’ll get an insider’s view of this thrilling sport.
The thrill of standing in the paddock with your team and jockey before each race, seeing your horse parade looking its very best, seeing your chosen silks worn by the jockey and the rising excitement as they run out to the start is a really special experience. And that’s before the race has even started! You will never forget your first race, first win, first photo receiving your first prize as owner, and we would love to be there and make it all possible.
Less than you might think! You can find out more about the types of ownership available on our ownership page and if you want to be a sole owner we can help you buy a youngster that fits your aims and budget. Partnerships are a good way of keeping costs down as the horse can be owned by up to 20 individuals so the cost of purchasing, caring for and training the horse are divided between all the owners. This can be a great way to share the joy of racehorse ownership with family, friends or colleagues! Don’t worry if you don’t have a big enough group of friends to create your own Partnership. You could join the Mark Bradstock Racing Club instead! To find out more just get in touch.
Yes, we’d love for you to visit and see your horse exercising on our wonderful gallops, working in the school and enjoying life in the yard. You can come over anytime, just notify us first so we can ensure we are able to spend some time with you to talk about your horse, its progress and aims for the future. We welcome owner involvement as we believe it makes it more enjoyable for owners if they are more involved in the day-to-day training of their horses.
We are always interested to hear from people who are interested in a career in racing and do have vacancies from time to time, so please get in touch.
If you are one of our owners you are welcome to come to the yard at any time, just call to arrange a visit. If you are thinking about owning a racehorse, would like us to help you buy a horse or would like us to help in training your horse please do get in touch and arrange a visit to discuss your needs. We don’t normally offer tours to the public because we are a busy working yard.
Follow our developments on Facebook, Twitter and read our blog. We try to post news regularly and aim to keep you updated with our latest successes as well as the latest developments at the yard. We would love to hear your thoughts so please leave comments and tell us what you think.
