Ownership Options
Over the years, we’ve attracted a loyal band of owners who have quickly grown to become friends, and while each horse has taken us on a different journey, we’ve enjoyed training each and every one and sharing the joys and experiences with their owners along the way.
If you’ve always fancied the idea of owning a racehorse, then why not find out about joining Mark Bradstock Racing? We are a small, family-run yard that has proven time and again our ability to spot and nurture horses that go onto become talented racehorses. Coneygree, winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2015 is a prime example of a horse that was bred from a cheaply bought mare but still went on to beat horses from the big National Hunt yards.
There are several types of ownership available and we are always delighted to discuss how we can accommodate your needs.
- Mark Bradstock Racing Club membership: become a member of the Mark Bradstock Racing Club launched in September 2024 in memory of Mark Bradstock. Join a limited number of owners of your choice of horse available through the club. Find out more about what we offer here.
- Sole Ownership: This is where one person owns the racehorse and is responsible for it under the Orders and Rules of Racing. As the sole owner you will get to enjoy the many benefits of being the owner of a racehorse. This is a great option if you want to be more heavily involved in the decision making, plus you will also get to visit as often as you would like to discuss training and racing plans and see your horse at work, and at home.
- Co–Ownership: This is a great choice if you want to enjoy all the excitement of owning a racehorse, without bearing all the costs alone. There are a number of different co-ownership options enabling groups of friends, family or colleagues to share ownership of a racehorse and we would be delighted to speak to anyone interested in a bespoke package.
- Partnerships: A partnership consists of a group of 2-20 individuals. With this option two of those owners are nominated as registered owners, and are jointly and severally liable under the Orders and Rules of Racing.
- Typical costs: each member of the Partnership pays a fee to buy a share of the horse and then pays a monthly training fee. Additional costs are applicable for race entries (Weatherby’s expenses), jockeys fees, vets fees, and other incidental costs associated with the care and training of the horse including discounted transport costs. A share of any surplus prize money is returned to each partner at the end of each season.
- Company Ownership: a company can own a racehorse which can be an exciting prospect for all employees as they follow the fortunes of their horse.
- Joint Ownership: 2-12 individuals can jointly own a horse and are all registered as owners, jointly and severally liable under the orders and rules of racing.
- Partnerships: A partnership consists of a group of 2-20 individuals. With this option two of those owners are nominated as registered owners, and are jointly and severally liable under the Orders and Rules of Racing.
