Mark and Sara’s daughter Lily has ridden for as long as she can remember, and is now Sara’s Assistant Trainer and a crucial member of the team.
Lily has a particular affinity with horses in need of a confidence boost and her expertise in the saddle both on the gallops, in the school and on the racecourse is invaluable. Lily schools the horses on a regular basis using her show jumping expertise to great effect. She tailors each schooling session to meet the horse’s needs and adjusts jumping and flatwork exercises to help develop and refine each horse’s technique. She displays a real empathy that even the most nervous horse can relate to. This combined with her meticulous efficiency helps create a calm environment in which horses are able to focus all their energies on the job in hand. We can always rest assure that horses are safe under her charge.
Lily’s unbelievable work ethic has allowed her support Sara in the development of each horse in training while making sure every horse in the yard is cared for with love and an attention to detail that prioritises their happiness and comfort. Lily is integral to yard’s successes and ensuring that all the horses in our care fulfil their potential as athletes.
Lily has ridden over thirty point-to-point winners as well as several NH winners under rules over hurdles and in chases including wins at Cheltenham and Musselburgh.
“Lily’s calm, confident manner and her undoubted love of the horses enables her to make deep connections with her charges at home and on the racecourse. Her determination and hard work has already delivered considerable success and I am confident there will be more wins to come for the yard and for Lily as jockey. She is a credit to the yard and a big part of their successes.”
