It was desperately disappointing not to be able to run Mr Vango in the Welsh National, but I am confident that it was totally the right decision as my reading of the ground proved correct with the race being won by a good ground horse in a fast time, with other mudlarks like Mr Vango running well below par.
Mr Vango is in fantastic form and will go to the Classic Chase at Warwick or the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock depending on if, and where, the ground is soft enough. If conditions aren’t to his liking, we will have to wait for the Grand National Trial at Haydock in February. I will be doing rain dances daily although I have not managed to have any effect on the rain Gods as yet!
We have a few nice young horses who we are looking forward to running in hurdles or bumpers, and a few who will start in point-to-points this year, but there is room for more, so if you are looking for a trainer with the time and experience to really get the best out of your horse, look no further.
We are also looking for like-minded staff to join our hard working and driven team. We have a vacancy for an apprentice who we would be delighted to teach as long as they have some general competitive riding experience and a genuine love of horses. If you or someone you know are interested in the position, please get in touch.
