I write from Coneygree’s box where I have spent the last week making sure our hero gets all the love and attention that he is used to while being assessed and treated by Ian Wright at the Newmarket Equine hospital for a hock injury sustained last week.
He is now back in biting good form and everybody involved is pleased with his progress. No corners will be cut in his rehabilitation and we have decided that we will not be tempted to try and get him back for this season. Time combined with a carefully planned and monitored exercise programme has worked for him in the past and we are optimistic that we can do the same again. We aim to get him back to full strength for the beginning of next season, ready to prove that he is not just a record-breaking Gold Cup winner, but a truly great steeplechaser.
I am delighted to say that I will be collecting him on Christmas morning and my best present will undoubtedly be to have him back safe and sound in his stable. A slight delay but the dream continues…
I look forward to keeping you all updated in the New Year and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
Sara

Will Conygree categorically miss the 2016 Cheltenham Gold Cup ?
